Good morning from gently rained on South Vancouver. This has been a slightly restful part of the season for me.
Luckily there was still some steady progress, but it was a little slower than I initially intended, mainly because I devoted the time to my family and to recovery.
Still, in the interest of keeping myself accountable to my Atelier mates, I will speak of my progress. Let’s get into it.
Art of the Week
The comic is still my focus this week, and it’s almost done! I’m onto the last page of it now. Once the pages are fully illustrated, I just have to letter everything, and then I can send it out into the world.
Here’s a bit of raw footage of me colouring Abby’s ghostly face:
Anyway, that’s all for the art stuff. I made gifts for my folks too, like a souvenir card for my mom’s citizenship ceremony, but I don’t always photograph gifts, and didn’t this time.
Spirituality of the Week
I spent much of yesterday napping and reading The Magic of the Orphic Hymns, by Tamra Lucid and Ronnie Pontiac.
The insights there were that Orpheus inspired a vegetarian counterculture that came in waves, from antiquity to modern times. I still have yet to get into the part of the book that translates the charms and hymns of the Orphic religion, and from there I can decide how much I want to integrate the Orphic philosophy into my practice.
I also went to bed early during the Scorpio Full Moon-usually I make moon water and charge my jewelry and gems but I was simply too tired that night. So this week was not much of a week for pomp and circumstance.
I did keep up (mostly) on my offerings and meditations, and I did film the end of one such offering for the benefit of blessing my spiritual friends for the weekend.
And bless you too, if you’d like.
Reading of the Week
Today I offer a five card reading via the Celestial Tarot, by Kay Steventon and Brian Clark, along with my Astro dice.
The Astro dice came up Jupiter in Scorpio. This would be a good time to evaluate your relationship to secrets, and whether you can grow as a person by maintaining the shadows of others.
To the left, we have Orion, the Four of Pentacles. You may be overthinking your relationship to the material, leading to stagnation of your talents. Let it go, and let your talent blossom.
In the center, we have Pisces, the Moon. This would be a great time to lean into your intuition and deepen your relationship to your feelings and “gut” instinct. Consider practicing visualizing an object or a simple geometric figure, or perhaps work on something equivalent in your other clairs. (Clear senses, such as clairvoyance or clairaudience, are often called clairs for short).
On the bottom, we have Ursa Minor, the Ace of Cups. Perhaps you aren’t consciously aware of it, but you seem to be on an emotional journey on your own, perhaps starting out a new venture. Try journaling a little bit on how you feel as you start your new venture.
On the top, we have Serpens, the Four of Cups. This hints that your higher self is warning you not to stagnate-to defeat the beast that would keep you ruminating.
Finally, on the right, we have Mutable Air, the Prince of Swords. This card suggests embracing exploring your thoughts, letting yourself expand your intellectual pursuits. You never know what you’ll find!
I leave this reading with a poem:
Ever mind the journey,
Don’t get caught in tending talents or feels,
The moon awaits your spirit-reach,
The Prince awaits your thoughts.
Conclusion
I found this a good, restful week, and I’m excited for what’s the come. Most likely, my comic update will be releasing next week!
Thank you for reading-I hope to see you at the workshop!
Can't wait for the comic update
